THIS is with reference to the news report ‘PIA moving head offices to Islamabad next month’ (Dec 21). The shifting is to be completed in phases ending March 2021. There is also talk of shifting the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry to Islamabad. The Pakistan Navy has already moved its headquarters to Islamabad where there is no sea.
These are dangerous signs for Sindh. The importance of Karachi is dwindling with these transfers. We will be left with the financial hub, but the banks too will shift their head offices to Islamabad. And then there will be nothing in Karachi.
Will the chief minister wake up to these realities and come out clearly against the move?
