Dear Members,
اَلسَلامُ عَلَيْكُم

The PALPA Executive Committee is working diligently to uphold the safety and well-being of its members, that is why we have clearly communicated to PIACL management that they need to take decisive actions concerning matters, which are in their domain of authority, and not any external agencies.

These matters include the following:

(1) PIACL’s IMPLEMENTATION PCAA COVID-19 GUIDELINES:

The PCAA issued guidelines to be immediately incorporated into SOPs. without any further unnecessary delays, for ALL cockpit crew, cabin crew, engineers/technicians, ground handling, and passenger handling staff of PIACL. These COVID-19 SOPs must be prominently displayed at each cadre’s place of duty in a non-destructible format.

(2) PIACL’S STANDARDIZATION OF COVID-19 TESTING PROTOCOL:

PALPA members are ready to undergo COVID-19 testing, however, due to extremely disturbing and grossly mishandled cases such as that of Captain Khurram Mughal. PALPA members are gravely concerned about being manhandled, being kept in unhygienic facilities, and being subjected to false-positive testing and quarantine containment.

(3) PIACL’S INTERNAL CREW COMMUNICATIONS:

There is a severe lack of intimation of PIACL to the operating crew as to where they will be accommodated for post-flight quarantine as per PCAA guidelines. Operating Crews are currently experiencing undue mental and emotional stress due to the uncertainty created by PIACL’s communication gap.

(4) PIACL’S CREW MEDICAL POLICY FOR POST-OPERATING COVID-19 POSITIVES:

No policy or guidelines have been communicated by the PIACL management as to the process and medical care to be provided to the crew that tests positive for COVID-19 after operating a flight.

A clear policy that defines panel hospitals, treatment protocols, medicines, and the informing of close kin, needs to be communicated in writing.

PIACL must avoid creating confusion, ambiguity and the provision of sub standard medical attention for the crew suffering as a result of fulfilling their duty.

As you can see, points (1) through (4) are not the responsibility of the Government of Pakistan, any Government Agency, or even non-Government Authority. They are all the sole responsibility of PIACL management.

PALPA has requested PIACL management to simply fulfill their responsibilities so that we may all work together to provide uninterrupted service to our countrymen, without fear, stress, or life-threatening consequences.

We reassured PIACL management that PALPA and its members are ever ready to fulfill their roles.

STAY SAFE, STAY WELL, AND STAY RESILIENT.

With Best Regards,

Capt. Narejo
GENERAL SECRETARY

LONG LIVE THE UNITY OF PILOTS.
